A Midsummer Night's Dream
Jar Full of Spring
My entire life has revolved around art.  I discovered art at the age of four,
when I realized this was way more than just “staying inside the lines”.  In high
school I took four years of art classes, back in the days when art was taught
seriously in schools.  It was my major in college and my career for eighteen
years when I worked at the JSC Space Center/NASA in Houston, Texas as a
technical/graphic artist.  After I left my job at NASA I studied painting at The Art
League of Houston School of Art for three years.  Since moving to Gig Harbor
in 2001 I have continued to paint and take workshops with noted artists.

In 2006 my husband and I took a three and a half year sabbatical aboard our
sailboat, sailing to and living in the Mediterranean.  During that time I took
thousands of photographs and painted as much as possible.

We returned to our home in Gig Harbor in December 2009.   I am now painting
landscapes and scenes based on my photographs, and have enough material
and inspiration to keep me busy for a very, very long time.  I am also having a
lot of fun painting pet portraits.  I am very comfortable using oils, acrylics,
pastel and oil pastel.

I am currently privileged to be painting with a noted and amazing artist, William
Turner.  His work is so expressive, so soulful and so captivating, I already
have seen the results of his influence on my painting.  We call it  being
“Turnerized”!

While art may be my favorite obsession, I’m constantly pulled in other
directions as well;  I love to cook, and love all the accouterments that go along
with it, restaurants, the blogs, recipes, cook books, the gadgets.  Back in the
1980‘s I was seriously considering attending the CIA (Culinary Institute of
America) in upstate New York, when I lived in the area;  Interior design... I
could spend hours, (days!) designing and decorating;  Fashion design is also
a serious distraction, I have been dreaming and scheming of designing a
children's clothing line for years.

Where will all this lead?  I have no idea...but I am enjoying the process!

In addition to my travel themed work I also love to paint animals and am currently accepting commissions for pet portraiture.
