22nd Anniversary at Gallery Row
SPECIAL SALE DAY  MAY 7, 2011

Gallery Row started as a working studio and gallery early in 1989 with three watercolor
artists, Lois Tucci, Ann Wilson, and Jeanne Lutz.  In the beginning the artist offered
classes, paint outs and workshops in the gallery space. It was called Gallery Row because
there was to be “rows’ of art by the artist members. The Gallery was located in the Finholm
district on the north side of the harbor near Anthony’s restaurant which was then known as
the Shoreline.

Marjorie Mankin, Patrice Bruzas and Sharon Carr still teach at the gallery, but the emphasis
has shifted to a focus on the exhibition of artwork and the inclusion of more artists and a
wider variety of media. In 2002 the gallery moved to its present location in downtown at
3201 Soundview Drive.

The member artists have changed and grown over the years although, Sandy Newhouse
and Donna Moen who were members from the earliest days are still part of the gallery.
Now the painters include, Alexei Antonov, Kate Larsson, Daphne Nixon, Patrice Bruzas,
Sharon Carr and Joan Teed.  The gallery also boasts 3-d artists Mary Bessette who works
in stained glass and fused glass jewelry, Nancy Corey fused glass sculptures and tables,
Wanda Garrity pottery, Karen and Norm Geiger jewelry, Karen Miner clay sculpture and
Brad Stave wood turning.

The fact that the artists all pay the rent and work the gallery has helped it survive through
hard economic times.  The artists are very proud of the high quality of their art work,
however, without high gallery commissions to pay they are able to offer their work at
affordable prices.

To celebrate their 22nd year the Gallery will host an extravaganza with the usual
great food.
On Art Walk Day, May 7th
there will be a tent sale with deep discounts on artwork and
some
no longer needed wood working tools and art materials.

In addition several artists will be demonstrating their craft.

Wood turner Brad Stave will be working on his lathe.

Wanda Garrity will be working on the potter’s wheel and

Patrice Bruzas will be offering a demonstration of Sumi Painting.

The day will close with a patron
appreciation party from 5 to 7:30 pm.
