Grand Case
In December 2009 I returned from a
remarkable and wonderful journey.
pulled up our land roots and
entered a watery world aboard our
Owl and the Pussycat from the
poem by Edward Lear, we "sailed
away for a year and a day", although
our voyage was a bit longer than a
year and a day.  We voyaged on
Moonstruck to the Caribbean and
then on across the Atlantic Ocean
to Portugal in the summer of 2007
and spent the next three years
slowly absorbing the countries and
islands of the Mediterranean,
studying their rich history and
culture without the constraints of
time.

My horizons as an artist broadened
as I took the opportunity to immerse
myself in art and observe, sketch,
paint, and photograph from a
dazzling array of locations.

Now that I am back home in Gig
Harbor, Washington I am painting
from my photographs and
recapturing on canvas the
excitement, emotion, and most of all
the joie de vivre I felt in the
moment that I snapped the photo.
My hope is that the viewer will take
away that feeling of wonder and in
that sense my journey will continue.

In addition to my travel themed
work I also love to paint animals
and am currently accepting
commissions for pet portraiture.
